About the Nicole Ensing Band
Whether performing original tunes or covering songs by artists such as Sting, Phillip Phillips, Serena Ryder or Bob Dylan, the Nicole Ensing Band injects an eclectic flavour on every song. Nicole's pop/folk style, Brian's jazz fingers, Bethany's punk background and Heather's charming harmonies converge in a soundscape delighting audiences with many different tastes.

Brian Bork
Guitar
Brian is a bit of a dabbler. He plays guitar a bit, writes a little, and works a lot as a chaplain at the universities in Waterloo. He's an unrepentant coffee snob. He'll make you a stunning bourbon Old Fashioned if you ask him nicely. He's crazy about Liverpool Football Club. He lives in Kitchener with his wife Amanda, daughter Rosie, new son Jakob, his dog Bird (named after Charlie Parker), and an undisclosed number of cats.

Bethany Deyell
Bass
Bethany is a lover of spicy food and bad British comedies. Her dream home is a derelict, yet well-stocked library, ideally with a fireplace, in a thunderstorm. She has a degree in Physics & Biology from Queen’s University. Bethany lives in Guelph with her husband, Shawn, and four precocious children. After dark, she can be found solving world problems with their LEGO. The first instrument to bring her great joy was her grandfather’s mandolin.

Nicole Ensing
Piano/Vocals
Nicole Ensing is a singer/songwriter using the piano as her second voice. Her original music has been described as a combination of “jazz stylings with folk charm and rock ’n’ roll energy”. It is the culmination of years of exploring music through classical training, a love of 80’s rock, a growing affection for jazz music and her many years as a church musician. Nicole lives in Guelph - Eramosa with her husband Mike. Their home has a revolving door for their children and assorted family and friends.

Heather VanderSteen
Vocals
Heather is happy to make harmonies with friends, foes and the NRC Time Signal. Being shushed while getting stitched up as a kid, the doc insisted, “Let her sing!”, and she took it to heart. A language and accent mimic, Heather likes to try a bit of everything. A former gerbil aficionado and ongoing chicken whisperer, she now chases after 2 sweet munchkins of her own with her husband Jonathan. Heather teaches and frolics in Guelph.
